Services Today For ‘Manson’ Film Producer
Sunday, January 30th, 1977
HOLLYWOOD, Jan. 30 — Funeral services will be held today for Laurence Merrick, producer of a film about the Charles Manson family, who was shot to death as he left his drama studio.
Services will be at 3 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills.
The Israeli-born Merrick was shot in the back last Wednesday as he left his Merrick Studio Academy of Dramatic Arts. He died later at Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital.
Police were seeking a man in his mid-20s.
Merrick produced the film “Manson” in 1972, a documentary about the Manson “family,” several of whom, including Manson himself, were convicted in the Tate-La-Bianca slayings.
Actress Sharon Tate was a student at Merrick’s workshop.
The documentary featured interviews with the “family” members.
