Lynette Fromme To Testify

SACRAMENTO, Feb. 4 – U.S. District Court Judge Thomas J. MacBride today granted Sandra Good’s request that her former roommate Lynette Fromme be subpoenaed from a federal penal institution to testify in Miss Good’s trial on charges of making mail and telephone threats.

At the same time, MacBride refused a new request by Miss Good that she be released without bail to await her March 1 trial.

“I don’t think you brought up anything new to cause me to change the decision I made on Monday. I think $40,000 is reasonable bail under the circumstances,” the judge said.

MacBride previously reduced Miss Good’s bail from the $100,000 set when she was indicted.

Miss Good and Miss Fromme, both followers of convicted mass slayer Charles Manson, are accused of conspiring. along with Susan “Heather” Murphy, to mail 171 letters threatening government officials and corporate executives they accuse of polluting the earth.

Additionally, Miss Good is charged with four counts of making similar threats in interstate telephone conversations.

Although Miss Fromme was named as a coconspirator in the alleged mail threat plot, she is not charged. She is held in the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center in San Diego under a life sentence following her conviction last November on a charge she tried to murder President Ford.

Miss Good told the judge she wants to confer with Miss Fromme in Sacramento before Feb. 25. when she is due in court to argue a motion for suppression of evidence seized by FBI agents in a search of her apartment at 1725 P St.

MacBride said he would consider the request.
