Trial Delay Granted For Three Followers

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 5 – A Superior Court judge yesterday continued until Jan. 11 the case of three of Charles Manson’s followers accused of giving an LSD-spiked hamburger to a prosecution witness in the Tate-LaBianca murder trial.

Judge Malcolm M. Lucas granted the continuance at the request of defense Attys. Mary and Hugh Fielder.

On Jan. 11, the Fielders will argue bail motions for Stephen Grogan, Lynette Fromme and Ruth Ann Morehouse.

The defense attorneys said they needed the continuance because they have just received copies of a transcript of proceedings before the Grand Jury which indicted the defendants last month.

Another defendant Catherine Share, who is pregnant, did not attend yesterday’s court session.

According to Mrs. Fielder, Miss Share is in the infirmary of Sybil Brand Institute for Women.

The charges against the four defendants stem from an LSD-spiked hamburger allegedly given to Barbara Hoyt, 18, last Sept. 9 in Honolulu.

The prosecution contends the defendants sought to stop Miss Hoyt from testifying against Manson and three of his female followers now on trial for the Tate-LaBianca murders.
