SAN LUIS OBISPO, Jan. 13 — The district attorney who helped prosecute the Manson Family for the Tate-LaBianca murders said today that Charles “Tex” Watson is working in a prison chapel with another former leader of the cult.
Deputy District Attorney Stephen Kay made the announcement at the opening of Watson’s fifth parole hearing.
“I’ve learned some shocking information this morning,” Kay said. “Bruce Davis and Tex Watson, who were two of the main leaders in the Manson Family, are working together in the prison chapel.
Charles Manson and Davis were convicted of murdering Shorty Shea and Gary Hinman, who was tortured to death over a period of days in his Topanga Canyon home in 1969 because he would not give them the pink slip to his cars.
