Charles Manson Transferred to Folsom

REPRESA, Calif., Oct. 10 — Charles Manson, convicted murderer of Sharon Tate and seven others, was transferred to Folsom State Prison from San Quentin, a prison official said. John Ahern, duty officer at Folsom, said the transfer was part of the general reassignment of former Death Row inmates from San Quentin because of recent court rulings which eliminated the death penalty in California. Manson has been placed in the prison’s adjustment center for evaluation before being placed in the prison proper, Ahern said, adding, “We don’t know how the inmate body is going to accept him, so we have to be cautious and we are.”
