Fromme Case Threat Alerts City Schools

SACRAMENTO, Dec. 20 – Sacramento city schools were alerted yesterday afternoon after police received a telephone call threatening violence against school children unless Lynette Fromme was granted a new trial.

Deputy Supt. Fred Stewart said, “We alerted all the schools, but maintained a regular schedule. There were no incidents at all.”

However, because of the phone threat, officials at Kennedy High School canceled a dance scheduled for last night.

Yesterday’s anonymous call to city police came one day after similar telephone threats were received by KCRA-TV and a newspaper, Tho Sacramento Observer.

Ms. Fromme, a disciple of convicted mass slayer Charles Manson, earlier in the week was sentenced to life in prison for attempting to kill President Ford.

She is in Sacramento County Jail awaiting transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.

A spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation said: “We’re not writing it off as a prankster … because of the nature of the people involved.”

Later, The Bee received a telephone call from Sandra Good, another Manson follower, in which she said she called the police and schools “and I assured them that nobody connected with us would ever make any threats against children.”
