Sandra Claims Trial Judge Is Prejudiced

SACRAMENTO, Jan. 19 – The federal court case of Manson cultist Sandra Good and her roommate Susan “Heather” Murphy has been continued until Thursday for further proceedings on a defense motion that Judge Thomas J. Mac-Bride disqualify himself.

Miss Good, 31, is in custody on $100,000 bail on a five-count grand jury indictment accusing her of conspiring to mail threatening letters and making death threats over the telephone.

Miss Murphy is free on a $15,000 appearance bond awaiting trial on charges that she conspired with Miss Good and another Manson family member, Lynette Fromme, to mail threatening letters to government officials and business leaders.

Miss Good filed a lengthy affidavit this morning in which she contends MacBride is biased and prejudiced in her case.

She claims the judge’s bias stems from the trial of Miss Fromme who was convicted last November and was sentenced to life in prison for trying to kill President Gerald Ford in Capitol Park Sept. 5.

MacBride has said he may disqualify himself if he finds that the defendants have presented sufficient reason that he do so.

He said that if he disagrees with their contentions he will call in another federal judge to rule on their motions.
