Manson Girl Convicted of Aiding Escape

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5 — Sandra Good, a strawberry blonde follower of Charles Manson, was found guilty Friday of aiding and abetting the escape of Kenneth Como in his daring predawn flight from the Hall of Justice.

The jury, which on Thursday had found Como guilty of escape, conferred another two and a half hours before agreeing on Miss Good’s sentence.

Superior Judge Paul Breckinridge set Feb. 25 for sentencing Miss Good. She faces a term of six months to five years on the conviction.

The judge had immediately sentenced Como, tagging on a term of six months to five years to a 30-year-to-life sentence the 31-year-old convict had earned on six previous burglary and robbery convictions.

Dep. Dist. Atty. Loren Sutton apparently convinced the nine women and three men on the jury that the 27-year-old woman willingly helped Como flee from the Hall of Justice after he made good his escape from a 13th floor cell last Oct. 20.

Miss Good took the witness stand during the two-week trial to claim that Como forced her to accompany him when he drove away in a van from near the corner of Broadway and Temple St.

She and other Manson followers lived in the van while maintaining a vigil for the hippie cult leader prior to his transfer to the California State Prison at San Quentin.

Como also testified that he forced Miss Good to go with him as he fled. He told the jurors that Miss Good was asleep when he entered the van and that she had no foreknowledge of the escape.
